Screen Acting Workshop

'Having met with drama students whilst giving advice at college careers events, I realised that many of the students had a desire to act on camera, some already endeavouring to make short films. My own experience of classic drama tuition when studying for my LAMDA Associate Diploma was that the course was understandably based upon stage acting, which from a physical point of view is a very different technique to that required on camera'.

I realised that there may very well be an opportunity to introduce students, by way of a two hour workshop, to the difference between the two techniques and subsequently I have devised a workshop that will explore: -

  • Acting within frame for various types of shot e.g. close up, mid shot.
  • Film vs. TV camera set-ups - How this affects actors.
  • Acting within a TV/Film environment –What to expect.
  • Reacting for the camera.
  • Acting to a microphone vs. auditorium.
  • Continuity.
  • Type casting.
  • Auditions to camera.
  • Rehearsals – Blocking scenes for actors and crew.
